Temu has set up an office in Seoul, South Korea. It is understood that Pinduoduo officially registered and established a company named "WhaleCo, Korea Limited" on February 23, engaged in e-commerce and related business activities. WhaleCoInc is the name of Pinduoduo's subsidiary in the United States. Temu's registered capital in South Korea is 100 million won ($74,000), and its office address is listed as Jongno, Seoul, but the specific office location has not yet been announced. According to retail data collection company WiseApp, as of February this year, Temu had 5.81 million users, ranking fourth among South Korean e-commerce shopping apps. On March 26, Temu and many other cross-border e-commerce companies received a notice from the Korea Fair Trade Commission, requiring foreign e-commerce companies operating in Korea to designate agents in Korea to be responsible for consumer damages, dispute resolution and investigation in accordance with relevant domestic laws. An industry insider said that as the competition between Coupang and AliExpress in South Korea becomes more intense, Temu seems to be intervening in the market in a more gentle and low-key manner, which is why Temu’s Korean entity company was not exposed by the media until more than a month after its registration. It is worth mentioning that PayPay, a Japanese mobile payment service provider, recently announced that it will support Temu, a cross-border e-commerce platform under Pinduoduo, with its own payment service from April. According to Nikkei, PayPay hopes to increase the payment frequency of its 62 million registered users through this cooperation and seek a new round of business growth points in addition to the growth in the number of users. In addition, Temu recently successfully opened a station in Kazakhstan, becoming its first station in Central Asia. So far, Temu has established 55 overseas markets around the world, covering many countries and regions in Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa and Oceania. Not long ago, Temu also launched three new sites in Georgia, Mauritius and Malta, which are located in West Asia, Africa and Southern Europe respectively. Mauritius is the second national site launched in Africa after the launch of South Africa at the beginning of the year.
