What is the difference between thc fees and dock fees?

If domestic merchants want to sell products overseas, they need to pay a fee to the port, called THC fee. It has its own set of charging standards. So, what is the difference between THC fee and port fee?

1. What is the difference between THC fees and dock fees?

1. THC is the fee charged by the shipping company to the booking company. It is most commonly used in South China, while there is another charging name in North China.

2. Wharfage refers to the local wharf comprehensive miscellaneous fees charged by the specific wharf itself to the cargo holder. Most wharfage is generated by inland river ports and some monopoly-operated wharfs. Generally, large ports, such as Shenzhen and Nansha, rarely charge such fees.

2. What is the difference between THC and DTHC?

There is one port of shipment (POL) and one port of destination (POD). THC is the local terminal charge of the shipper; DTHC is the terminal handling charge of the destination port.

3. Who usually pays for THC and DTHC?

THC is usually paid by the consignor/seller (shipper), unless the transaction is under EXW or FCA terms. DTHC is usually paid by the consignee/buyer (consignee), unless the transaction is under DDU or DDP terms. However, this is not always the case. There may be some ports where DTHC needs to be paid by the consignor/seller (shipper). You can check this in advance when confirming the price.

In short, who pays for THC and DTHC is mainly determined by the international trade terms/transaction methods (EXW, FCA, C&F, CIF, DDU, etc.), and of course the two parties can also negotiate and agree in the contract.

Not to be confused with DHC

DHC is the abbreviation of Document Handling Charge, which means "document handling fee", "document processing fee" or "document fee". It can also be called Documentation Charge (DOC Charge) or Documentation Fee (DOC Fee). Don't be confused and mistake DHC for DTHC or DTHC for DHC.

In summary, although THC fees and dock fees have the same meaning in translation, their actual uses are different. The specific differences are already in the article.
