What does anti-dumping mean? Why is anti-dumping necessary?

If a business is engaged in international trade, including import and export, then it is necessary to master a certain amount of international trade terms and corresponding laws and regulations. This article is about what anti-dumping means?

1. What does anti-dumping mean?

Anti-dumping refers to the importing country taking various forms of investigations such as imposing anti-dumping duties on dumping behavior in accordance with the law. For example, if the price of imported goods is far lower than the domestic market price, it is necessary to sanction the exporter in order to protect the development of our industry.

Second, why is anti-dumping necessary?

Dumping exists in international trade, and it seriously disrupts the normal market order. After more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China has become a major economic power in the world, but it faces huge anti-dumping and trade protectionism in the international community. Anti-dumping is also a measure against dumping, and its purpose is to combat dumping.

1. As an emerging trading power, China's economic and trade exchanges with other countries in the world are expanding day by day. As market competition becomes increasingly fierce, the chances of trade frictions and disputes will increase;

2. It is a regular phenomenon that countries adopt more trade protection measures during economic recession;

3. Some WTO members abuse the rules.

(1) Anti-dumping involves economic issues. Once the domestic market is occupied by foreign products due to dumping, the relevant industries will inevitably go bankrupt, the relevant industrial chain will be damaged, and the real economy will decline.

(2) As an integral part of the WTO, anti-dumping is legal in form, easy to implement, and widely used by countries around the world. Its original intention was to oppose unfair trade and maintain fair competition. However, in recent years, developed countries have strengthened and abused anti-dumping to impose discriminatory restrictions.

The main reasons are the growth of China's total trade, its increasing influence and its enhanced competitiveness, the lack of a reasonable foreign trade export structure, the passive response of Chinese companies to anti-dumping lawsuits, and "discriminatory treatment of non-market economies".

To sum up, anti-dumping means that in addition to the general import tax, an additional tax is imposed on dumped foreign goods to prevent them from being sold cheaply and to protect the development of our country's industry.
