eBay is updating its sales policy for sports shoes

eBay US recently announced that it is updating its sales policy for sports shoes. Starting from October, sellers will see the following new changes.

First, eBay is streamlining shipping for sellers and buyers. Starting in October, eBay will provide sellers with a free shipping label at the time of sale so that sellers can ship sneakers to eBay's certified centers.

The change applies to new and revised listings, and eBay defaults to domestic shipping. When sellers use eBay's shipping labels, eBay will provide sellers with compensation if the items are damaged or otherwise in transit to the certified facility.

Meanwhile, sellers using eBay’s Authenticity Authentication service are required to send the sneakers to the appraiser within three business days or less, while buyers will receive their items from the appraiser within three days of authentication.

eBay will also establish a flat shipping rate of $14.95 for buyers in the U.S., and will soon share more detailed information about these shipments. This will increase transparency, build trust, and speed up delivery.

Secondly, eBay will provide authentic authentication services for more sneaker brands. In the future, sellers will be able to list listings faster. The shipping part of the listing process will automatically specify the free domestic service provided by eBay to deliver items to the authentication center. eBay will have a "authenticity guaranteed" mark on certified sneakers.

Finally, eBay is increasing final value fees for sneakers sold between $100 and $150. Starting October 10, 2022, for items listed in the men’s or women’s sneakers categories, the fees will change:

Final value fees will not change for sneakers that sell for less than $100 or $150 or more; Final value fees for sneakers that sell for between $100 and $150 will remain the same as for sneakers that sell for less than $100;

For sneakers priced between $100 and $150, sellers with a store rating below Basic will be charged a final value fee of 12.9%, and sellers with a store rating of Basic or above will be charged 12%, and eBay will charge an additional $0.30 per order.

If a seller has used up their monthly zero-insertion-fee allotment, items priced under $150 may be charged an insertion fee, while sneakers priced at $150 or more will continue to receive free insertion fees.

eBay's new flat shipping rates mean buyers will no longer be responsible for final value fees or advertising fees, as the sales total for certified items includes the item price, sales tax, and other applicable fees.
