Amazon US changes its automatic inventory removal policy

Amazon's US site announced that in order to make more storage space for sellers' products during the holiday sales season, the US site is making changes to automatically remove inventory that cannot be delivered.

Starting October 14, 2022, Amazon will automatically remove undeliverable inventory that has been stored in fulfillment centers for more than 14 days. Previously, this removal policy applied to undeliverable inventory that had been stored in fulfillment centers for more than 30 days.

This policy will help sellers save storage fees, help manage inventory, and improve sellers' Inventory Performance Index scores by removing undeliverable items more quickly. Sellers can also automatically refurbish, liquidate, or return undeliverable inventory by updating their settings.

Please note that if you previously configured your settings to remove unfulfillable inventory monthly, starting October 14, the removal frequency will be updated to twice a month.

At the same time, Amazon Europe issued an announcement to remind sellers that the submission window for the 2022 Black Friday and Cyber Monday flash sales and 7-day sales will be closed soon. The submission deadline is October 7, 2022. Sellers need to submit ASIN in time so that their flash sales can be selected in the upcoming promotion.

Additionally, Amazon logistics inventory for Black Friday and Cyber Monday must arrive at Amazon fulfillment centers by November 4, 2022.

It is worth mentioning that earlier this month, Amazon announced a new service to help sellers solve supply chain challenges - Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD).

Amazon Warehouse Delivery (AWD) solves key supply chain challenges, helping sellers grow and manage their businesses while significantly reducing costs. AWD is one of the new products the company will share at Amazon’s annual Seller Conference on September 14-15.

The registration process for the service is not complicated. With just one click, sellers can send their inventory to Amazon distribution centers, reducing storage costs while eliminating complex pricing schemes and long-term contracts common throughout the industry. Sellers can integrate their upstream inventory storage business with the Amazon Fulfillment Network to ensure that they always have the right inventory quantity at the right time and place.
